Review of Harry Brown (2009) by John M — 02 Feb 2013
Michael Caine does his Charles Bronson vigilante bit to cleanse the world of undesirable urban types of the sort some Americans might call "Wiggers" in a drug-infested, can't walk the streets safely at nights any more, dangerous part of south east London.
"Harry Brown is doing us all a favour!" some Daily Mail readers might argue. But there seems a touch too much of the BNP mantra about it all to me as Harry Brown sets out to fight the virus of wayward foreign influences (read, African-Caribbean culture) infecting the very fabric of good, old-fashioned cockney London. The central villains may be all white working class lads but the message is clear, innit?
