Review of Hardware (1990) by Visitorq S — 13 Sep 2010
Slow plot progression, oddly placed music and a clunky, not so threatening looking, robot. Sounds like a recipe for a cinematic disaster. Especially for a film that claimed to be better than most science fiction films up to that point.
And although I agree I can't defend it. I can see why people think this film is a bust. You know what, fuck that, I am going to defend it. Richard Stanley wrote and directed a great post-apocalyptic science fiction film that combined slow plot progression, oddly placed music, a robot that looks far from menacing, a sweaty obscene phone caller, blood spray galore and great camera work to form a movie that works.
And not in the "it's soooo bad it's good" kind of way. It's more the "this film is wicked rad" sort of way, because this film simply is badass.
