Review of Hardcore Henry (2015) by Dakota J — 24 Aug 2016
You remember when Cloverfield was released and it started making movie-goers sick? So much so that theaters had to put warnings at the door. Well, this is like Cloverfield...but on crack. The extremely shaky first person viewpoint took me out of the movie more than it immersed me.
I didn't even make it through the entire movie. Every 15 seconds I had to look away for 10 to regain my composure so I wouldn't vomit all over my living room. I ended up missing....not too much actually.
No real story, likeable characters or memorable villain to speak of. Just pawns giving the filmmakers a reason to stage excessively violent and somewhat expensive-looking GoPro filmed action sequences.
Too bad there's no weight to them, making them relatively meaningless. All style, no substance.
