Review of Hardcore Henry (2015) by Jon C — 08 Mar 2017
It's hardcore to the extreme.
At least when it works when it's supposed to.
If the movie doesn't give you a side-splitting headache or you're not prone to motion sickness then it is lots of fun.
The film is the ultimate in acting like a first-person shooter.
The entirety is from Henry's perspective as he's brought back as a human, android fighter.
His wife is then thrown into danger when a tyrannical overlord wants more soldiers like Henry for world domination.
Sharlto Copley shows up quite frequently as multiple characters aiding Henry in his quest, even though Tim Roth is uncredited he does show up once at the start and once at the end.
The first-person perspective takes some getting used to but it's very action-packed and very violent.
The ending is really weak and the script is about as clichéd as they come.
I guess that's why I didn't love it as much as I wanted to.
Still, it's like a live-action version of 'Mirror's Edge' meets 'Goldeneye' but it wont be everyone's cup of tea.
