I agree with the "Critic Consensus" and that the plot wasn't emotionally moving, I would have liked more thoughtful twists considering the cleverness of most of the other aspects of the film.

I was attached more than I would be to a video game which the movie is emulating in live action--done well with themes/ character behavior nostalgic to most games. I see this movie as a precursor to what could be expected from VR movies of the future.

I think a viewer would have to know what they were getting into, and after the title sequence, its very clear. What they created met my expectations and it was spectacular. The footage and single shots were awesome--the stunts were out of control and the CGI was seamless.

It was visually brilliant. Sharlto Copley gives a fantastic performance and range with personas he can take on. I'm not sure if its Oscar worthy, but ENTERTAINING no doubt.
