Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Gabriel Z — 02 Jul 2008
A great first effort by Paul Thomas Anderson. You can see how confident he is behind the camera and how quickly his style developed. The story and characters are deeply layered and the performances are fantastic and intense.
It's not quite up to par with his other 4 movies, but it's a great debut all the way.
