Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Matthew A — 22 Feb 2013
This is a brilliant, unforced character study of four people who seem to live in the casinos of Vegas. It's very low-key, with no obvious foreshadowing or foreboding score, as these people move into and out of each others lives.
There is a point, a connection, but it's slow in coming and is much the better for it. Cinematogrophy is fantastic, everything is. Stunning debut from PT.
