The title gives it all: Hard Candy is relatively hard to watch. It sets off like a whirlwind when the premise unfolds, but the same simile can be applied to its grueling plot. It is thrilling, all right, but it suffers from an incoherent and incomprehensible story line.
Nothing can be decoded from the plot because there is no code to start with. What you see is what you get. And what I did see clearly deserves this rating. [December 23, 2010 | DVD].
