Review of Hard Candy (2005) by Neil M — 06 May 2011
Without a doubt this is the best performance I have ever seen out of Patrick Wilson as well as Ellen Page. The film is dark and in some ways mysterious as Page emotionally and occasionally physically tortures Wilson.
I found myself often "switching sides" when trying to decide who the real villain of the film was. Thought it may not have been a Tyler Durden twist the ending left me shocked and amazed with the realization that nobody is as innocent as they seem.
The cinematic value alone was outstanding, this being the first David Slade film I have seen I must commend him on his cinematography. However those viewers not interested in mise-en-scene of the film it is still a worth while thriller to invest in on a Friday night.
