Review of Hard Candy (2005) by Marc L — 20 Jul 2011

Disturbing. Not at all what I expected it to be. It took an 180 degree change of direction from where I thought it was going, then took a couple more unseen turns into sadism for good measure. The acting was adequate and the pacing was satisfactory, but the plot is what sets this movie on fire. At times difficult to watch, you don't know whether to cheer for the young lady or cringe in disgust. It certainly makes you think about shades of gray. For that alone, it is worth a look.
