Review of Hard Candy (2005) by Sumit B — 06 Sep 2011
A sick, bitter, woeful horror revenge drama. Hard candy indeed.
This film overall is a slow, unimpressive watch.
The film starts off about a developing online dating chat come date, when they return home things twist and turn, and dark intentions are released. This is when the candy turns hard, and the sick horror element bursts uncomfortably onto the screen. It all then rears its head as what you were expecting (horror that is), but had almost given up on, and comes crashing to conclusion. Evil, not entertaining, just boring and then erupting.
For me the simple idea is cheapened by poor actress choice in Page (Super and Inception). I think I missed the whole under-age angle and justification and was bored by the majority of the film's slow pace and brutal ending.
