Review of Hard Boiled (1992) by Jeff R — 04 Mar 2010
Made almost 20 years ago and nothing I have seen before or after compares to the action of the opening Teahouse scene. The mood, the location, the stunts, the violence and above all the stylistic gunplay that can only come from someone who hates guns (John Woo).
Unlike todays cop out action scenes, every detail adds to the awe of what your seeing on screen. The toothpick, the birdcages, the big metal kettles, the flour and even the stairs. The blueprint on how to do action.
