Review of Harakiri (1962) by Brian S — 30 Dec 2011
It starts off great, feeding the viewer red herring stories without all the information to sway the way one feels about them. The overall story is masterful, full of twits and turns and getting to the root of the warriors code and what it truly means.
But the film is quite tragic. The first act of harakiri performed with a bamboo blade was one of the saddest things I have ever seen. It was just so cruel and painful. But this is one of the better samurai films that I have seen, for sure.
