Review of Harakiri (1962) by Nicolas M — 11 May 2010
How can one of the greatest movies ever not be rated by the official critics of this page? That is another proof that the users are much better critics than the majority of the official ones. Harakiri is the story of a guy who wanted to practice the Seppuku (Harakiri) but needed to tell his story first.
Amazing acting by Tatsuya Nakadai and Akira Ishihama. This film got to win a price at Cannes. See? Oscars are crap compared to Cannes. Well, great job by director Masaki Kobayashi. Definitely one of the best jidaigeki movies ever.
