Review of Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai (2011) by Nick O — 06 Sep 2012
Surely Takashi Miike has to be Japan's Soderbergh, the way he works in various genres and seems to never stop making quality film. Hara-Kiri was very classical Japanese storytelling and working in a similar vein as 13 Assassins but perhaps more thoughtful & dramatic.
It's also impeccably and beautiful shot, maybe a bit long, but hardly something to hold against it.
