Review of Happythankyoumoreplease (2011) by Steven P — 27 Mar 2011
The Directorial Debut from "How I Met Your Mothers" Josh Radnor who writes, directs and stars in this indie drama/comedy. While the script could absolutely use some fine tuning Radnor and his cast are spot on in a movie that is not only moving but very strongly acted.
Radnor's characters are 6 new yorkers living with all their own issues and how they come together and all effect their own lives. Radnor is strong in what I can say is the first time i've seen him as someone other then HIMYM's Ted Mosby.
Radnor shows how much he adores the city landscape but more importantly he shows how important a landscape it can be for a story. I'm the kind of person that likes to not only enjoy a movie but likes to be moved by one.
This movie is truly moving, Malin Akerman who has been down right dreadful in alot of her past roles shows like most of the cast that she has the chops. Tony Hale as well shows he has the ability to be an outstanding actor, I was very impressed by the whole entire cast From Kate Mara all the way down.
I was left wanting a little more then what I was given but in the grand scheme of things Happythankyoumoreplease will make you think, it will make you enjoy what your watching and most importantly it will make you hope Josh Radnor continues to act and continues to make movies as he does his best Zach Braff Impression.
Lets just hope for his sake he finds those next films at a faster pace and maybe finds a way to turn some heads but he has grabbed my attention.
