Review of Happythankyoumoreplease (2011) by Cynthia S — 08 Jan 2012
This is a story amongst stories, one where a struggling writer trying to find his first big hit happens upon a foster child, a second story involving a woman with an auto immune disorder trying to find happiness, and a third where a couple is having a hard time trying to figure out if they wish to stay in New York or move to LA.
As with most movies that involve multiple story lines the story that suffers is the third that I had mentioned. And I don't think it was lost in the shuffle just more that the length of it was limited.
It'll be tough to explain truly what happens within this film but the major plotline could be compared to Big Daddy. The second is the most moving out of the bunch especially near the end when Malin Akerman's character is being shown that even if you don't think you deserved to be loved you can.
This is meant as a light drama with a little humor thrown in. And one minor annoyance is that I feel like this could've been a rated PG-13 film, the swearing was mostly unneccessary however one of the first instances was part of a recurring joke.
Overall this is a good film, rent it, watch it on netflix, however you wish I think in the end you will think the same thing as me.
