Review of Happy Death Day (2017) by Matt W — 21 Oct 2017
HAPPY DEATH DAY MOVIE REVIEW.
Here are my quick thoughts on the film. At first when I watched the trailer and the title I thought it was going to be terrible. But I heard some positive word of mouth from critics I decided to give it a chance and went in with a very low expectation.
The film wasn?t as bad as I thought it was going to be. The film is a version of Groundhog Day Meets a slasher movie. The film is about a college sorority girl who dies on her birthday and wakes up and relives the same day over and over again. And she has to find out who killed her in order to break the time loop. Fifteen minutes of the movie was a little painful to get through but after fifteen minutes went by it?s started to make sense of how they were setting it up the beginning of the movie. It was funny, smart and clever that I thought it was going be. I started to care more about the lead character. And I thought the lead actress Jessica Rothe did a great job carrying the movie on her own.
Overall, I walked out of the theater very satisfied and entertained. Now I?m not going to say this is the best movie of the year cause it?s not. But that being said, I thought it was a fun film. If you?re looking for a fun slasher horror movie then it?s definitely worth your time in the theater. I?m going to give my score a 7/10.
