Review of Hannibal Rising (2007) by Julian T — 03 Dec 2011
This is a very very good movie, and it still ranks as the 3rd best of the Hannibal films. Thourougly twisted, it depicts the early years of Lecters life, showing the extremely traumatic events which would seriously warp anyone into a monster.
The first half of the film is far superior to the second half, where the plot starts to wear a little thin and gets a little contrived. There's also a bit of a gap which the director Webber fails to show the real transformation from a seriously disturbed young man into a homicidal cannibal.
Very good cinematography, score, acting and direction carry on the tradition of great story telling throughout the series.
