Review of Hannibal (2001) by Corey W — 05 Apr 2011
I didn't expect very much, seeing as how most of Ridley Scott's movies are quite disappointing after watching his great films like Alien, Blade Runner, and Gladiator. But still, I expected it to better than this, with Scott attached to a horror and a screenplay by David Mamet.
Overall, while it had its creepy moments, the violence and some scenes almost seemed goofy and quite laughable once you get past the gruesome subject-matter. The brain scene came across as disturbing enough, but very stupid at the same time. Oldman's character almost seemed like an afterthought as well.
