Compared to the excellent Silence Of The Lambs, this is disappointing. Hopkins still makes Hannibal Lecter his own, but is nowhere near as menacing as the same turn in the prequel. Some gruesome makeup effects are the real star, and Julianne Moore makes a weak Clarice Starling.
