Review of Hannibal (2001) by Tomass P — 28 Sep 2012
I remembered enjoying this in the cinema. Viewing it again last night, eleven years later, it is clear it is a bloated camp horror show. Anthony Hopkins retains his pantomime dame villainness, and newcomer Julianne Moore (replacing Jodie Foster) commits herself admirably, but it is not enough to raise it above the faintly ludicrous qualities inheritent in the material.
Not so much a disappointment, as a why did they bother?
