So this is why I remember Hannibal Lector as such a hammy creation from Hopkins. No wonder Foster didn't want to be involved in this, all the subtleties and nuances of the relationship between Starling and Lector have been completely ditched.
In it's place Lector now is basically Michael Myers with a PhD...his relationship with Clarice is supposed to be complicated and psychological, he's not some dirty old man with a boner and a Daddy-Daughter complex.
