Review of Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) by Josh B — 16 Dec 2007
If only all films could be this exquisite, precise, detailed, nuanced, insightful, and just plain funny. Memorable characters, all perfectly played in one of Woody's most warm and least cynical films.
It was great to see it in a a theater for the first time, too (Film Forum is presenting it and they are showing the trailer for the Chuck Close film as well!) Woody is a personal hero and I was once again reminded why.
And what a cast -- all the way down to the bit parts -- seeing Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Turturro, Julie Cavner and other future stars in small roles is just another indication of Woody's instincts for finding and cultivating talent.
Wonderful.
