Review of Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) by Nick T — 05 Apr 2011
Excellently scripted and brilliantly directed 1986 Woody Allen film about a group of sisters and their relationships. The interplay of tension and resolve was a key feature, and I dare say the editing was great.
Michael Caine was appropriately sleazy as the adulterous husband of Hannah, played by an unspectacular Mia Farrow. Barbara Hershey shines as one of Hannah's conflicted sisters, and Dianne Wiest is surprisingly interesting as Hannah's quirky sister.
A difficult but provocative movie.
