Review of Hamlet 2 (2008) by Brian H — 07 Jul 2009
I liked some of this film. I think Steve Coogan is pretty hilarious and I enjoyed most the hijinx his character got into. But I find it difficult to sympathize with a character who is so obliviously clueless.
You want to root for somebody who is slightly self-aware. And I also had difficult with most of the obstacles because none of them were fully realized or dealt with. Most of the problems just pretty much disappeared by the next scene.
And I was very disappointed with the finale when we finally get to see the show that they had been rehearsing. It was not nearly as delightfully bad as had been anticipated. So, overall this is a very mediocre film, but there is enough light satire to keep me entertained.
