Review of Hamlet 2 (2008) by Walker S — 22 Aug 2013
Scores most of its points for Steve Coogan (again) being willing to put himself through the portrayal of a really unlikeable failure who is demeaned and debased at every turn. He's terrifically committed to this, and enormous fun to watch.
Most of the rest is fairly humdrum, but the final performance of the musical is excellent. The songs at the end are great, surely owing a debt to South Park, and there are some fun cameos. It is bonkers, but it made me laugh quite a lot, and I can't say that for a whole load of 'comedies'.
