The only reason this gets two full stars is that I suspect a lot of the badness is done on purpose - that the stiltedness and predictability of the whole thing are meant to reflect the poor taste and lack of skill of the main character and his, uh, "students.
" I hate embarrassment-squick comedy, and that's pretty much all this is. You know you're out of ideas when you're stealing a musical number from "Grease." And worst of all, Steve Coogan doesn't get to use the Big Voice anywhere in the movie.
