Review of Hamlet 2 (2008) by Alan D — 08 Nov 2009
The idea is superb, the execution is all wrong. First of all Coogan is playing a Yank, nothing against them or even his ability to maintain a convincing accent, its the fact that when your used to his usual characters, the accent becomes jarring and even cringe worthy.
Non of the other members of cast are funny, and there is a huge lull between any good laughs. Elisabeth Shue's cameo is quient but virtually pointless. its only redeeming feature is the actual play "Hamlet 2" which contains the show tune "rock me sexy jesus" which genuinely gave me a chuckle.
there is a good idea hear, its just been made by the wrong people.
