Review of Hamlet (1996) by Jack G — 04 Oct 2008
Shakespeare writes just about the most densely packed dialog ever, which I mean as something of a compliment. There are times I don't understand things being said, but there's barely anyone comparable in terms of poetic prose.
Branaugh is cinematically faithful to that, and makes 4 hours go by without any boredom. It's also got one of the best ensembles outside of an Altman flick.
