Review of Hamlet (1996) by Nikolaus G — 30 Apr 2011
A bold, thought-inspiring and spectacular adaptation of Shakespeare's greatest play, even though it borders on the ostentatious and presents several miscasts. Winslet, Jacobi and Heston are outstanding in their depictions, while Branagh succeeds (as well as in his acting) in highlighting key motifs and themes with his direction.
A treat for Shakespeare enthusiasts and cinema-goers alike.
