(1987) Hamburger Hill.
WAR.
Not my favorite genre especailly if the film shows soldiers trying to take hold of a pointless hill, but the difference is that this is what actually happened and why shouldn't it be shown! I remember hearing about one of few war veterans who had died but has survived both WWI and WWII and was known for quoting about how war is pointless and that all of the soliers are nothing but pawns on a chess board. While watching this film, this is exactly like how I felt in which the film does a good job of not asking any sympathy but really is saying is that this what we had to do while in Nam and this is how many lives it costed us for taking up this hill! Noticable appearances by Don Cheadle, Steven Weber and Dylan Mc Dermott are also in this film!
3/4.
