Review of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) by Mike H — 22 Jul 2009
I like to call this the Halloween 2 (rob zombies) of 2000 because it strays WAY off the tried formula for typical Halloween movies, and much like H2 this is one of my favorites. People Im sure get upset they didnt follow the rules of Michael Myers, but hey atleast they tried to put together the broken timeline that is his story.
It's scarier unexplained to me too, but I'm not gonna cry about it because I like to see peoples take on why he is the way he is. Anyways Michael is definately more pissed off in this movie and you can tell early (he turned that machine on inside that poor lady in that barn) and I like my Michael Myers this way.
But as usual they messed up they way he looked. He looks like Danny Devito with a mask on, since when does the shape over eat? Hes fat! and the mask seems even fatter and loose on his head. ugh. Anyways the direction is confusing and it felt like their hearts were in the right places, but they just didnt execute well, the storys got more holes than a (insert clever line here) I dont know, something with a lot of holes.
But overall theres some awesome Myers scenes (that scene where he kills all the docs in the strobe light? Classic.)making this a helluva fun b-movie michael myers experience. Its not hokey, but instead more violent, and as bad as some parts are, its still one of my favorite Halloweens.
A must see if your a fan of the series. It's actually a better movie than 4 and 5 for sure. Oh yeah and it stars Paul Rudd as Tommy Doyle. Awesome.
