Review of Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) by Jamie M — 28 Jan 2012
A wonderful departure from the dissapointing Halloween II: the Michael Myers storyline had long since run it's course and it was time for a new direction. That direction involves a plot about a maniac Irish toymaker who is planning a devilish trick or treat for the children who buy his top selling Halloween masks.
No one knows exactly what it is or what the 'big giveaway' at 9pm on October 31st is going to be, but everyone sure is excited about it and will be watching it on TV! This movie could've easily been laughable in the wrong hands, but thanks to John Carpenter, Debra Hill and Tommy Lee Wallace it comes off as chilling and suspenseful.
It also gives a nod to the film that inspired it - 'Invasion of the body snatchers' - by naming the town Santa Mira, and the town has an Irish theme running through it, represented in green shamrocks and good luck charms on walls and shop windows.
When Doctor Dan Challis and Ellie Grimbridge discover the grim truth of what is going on behind the closed doors of the toymakers factory, it is a race against time to prevent the big giveaway from being broadcast.
This is an ending that will leave you on the edge of your seat and crying otu for more!
