Review of Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) by Steph J — 29 Jul 2009
Underrated sequel that gets unknown hate! Sure Michael Myers isn't in it, there's a reason why. John Carpenter was done with Michael Myers after the second Halloween as he had enough of him and had his story including Dr. Loomis's done with. He came up with a concept to make the franchise into a big screen horror anthology much like "Twilight Zone", "Creepshow", "Tales from The Crypt", "Heavy Metal" or "Grindhouse" of each different halloween themed horror story every year, but unfortunately he didn't tell audiences this concept so when the film came out, people were confused and the film bombed with fans demanding Michael back so the idea was canned and Michael came back in 1988.
I thought it is a nice Sci-fi horror thriller in the vein of "HP Lovecraft" about a conspiracy that will happen on halloween, it's great fun even without Michael.
