Review of Halloween II (1981) by Kyle L — 09 Jun 2012
Halloween II is a great follow up to John Carpenter's 1978 classic only that the film has the same style as the original but with new elements. I seriously enjoyed this film and it is the same and just as good as the first film only that the film has new elements.
I like the plot of this film and it is seriously a direct sequel and the idea as a continuation to the first film is great and the plot of this film takes place after the events of the first movie where Laurie is taken to a hospital after the events of the first film and Dr.
Loomis decided to search for Michael Myers' body after he found out that he's not dead yet and soon Laurie discovered that Michael Myers is not dead yet and he's in the hospital looking for her and Dr.
Loomis also learns the reason on why Michael has been chasing her and he discovers that Laurie is Michael's sister and Dr. Loomis must stop Michael before he kills Laurie. Like I said this is a great follow up to the original John Carpenter classic.
This movie has the same kind of style as the original but with new elements mainly the gore and violence are the new elements in this film. What's great about Halloween II is that the entire film is full of suspenceful and intense scenes and some genuine spooks and scares plus the film also had the same atmosphere as the original mixed with the graphic gore and violence only which is nice so far and it made Halloween II look like a very similar slasher film.
The other things I'm seriously proud of Halloween II is that the music is much more haunting than it's previous predecessor's music. The theme in the original Halloween is really well used in this film and the music is just perfect for this movie so far.
What I also like about Halloween II is that the entire film has more graphic violence and gore than it's predecessor. This movie seriously has similarities to other Slasher films like Friday The 13th and My Bloody Valentine.
The gore in this movie is really well used and the graphic violence just increased the film a little more. The scene where Michael gets shot by Laurie at both eyes with her gun is one of the goriest parts of the film while the other death scenes are really gory as well.
The acting is great the performances of Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence is good once again in this sequel to the 1978 classic and Jamie Lee Curtis is so gorgeous and really beautiful in this film and she's so beautiful just like in the original Halloween she's really pretty so far and I was fund of her performance in both films so far.
Director Rick Rosenthal seriously did a good job with his work on this movie so far and I was seriously proud with his stylish directing with this movie and he did a better job with his work on this movie than his work on the eighth installment of the Halloween franchise the lousy and annoying Halloween Resurrection in which he seriously went down the hill when he directed Halloween Resurrection which is the stupidest and the lousiest film ever made this one is a masterpiece compared to the eighth installment so far.
Overall Halloween II gets a 10/10 because this film is just as good as the original and it is the same to the original only with new elements and incredible performances once again from Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence and this movie is better than the other sequels like Halloween 4-6 and Halloween Resurrection.
