Review of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) by Will T — 08 Apr 2012
I enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would. It is in no way comparable to the original, but it is by far the best of the sequels. The first major thing that this movie does right, is that it completely ignores the events of Halloweens 3-6.
The other thing I loved was the pacing. Throughout the first 40 minutes, is some great build-up and suspense, which is brilliantly slow and steady, the way it should be. Then when Michael and Laurie finally meet face to face, it's fast and thrilling.
I also liked the length of the movie, at about 86 minutes, it doesn't overstay it's welcome like countless slashers before it. Despite this, there was something I disliked. I didn't like the amount of jump scares the movie relied on throughout.
granted it does keep the audience from falling asleep but the movie does use a few too many. But other than that I don't have any major complaints. It was a pretty good slasher flick.
