Review of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) by Lovro H — 08 Jul 2015
Easily my least favourite sequel so far. The fourth one ended on a cliffhanger where Jamie kills her stepmother just like Michael did back in the first movie, and I found that pretty awesome. So, I was expecting to see a Jamie-centered movie, but that's not what I got.
Instead of seeing Jamie go all insane and kill people, we get to see Michael survive the last movie's shootout at the end and he goes back to the town to finish off Jamie, but Jamie can now see when/who he is about to kill.
I'll admit that that's an interesting premise, but it all gets messy and feels very rushed the more you watch. Jamie didn't even have a lot to do with the plot, except the ending where she is bait for Michael.
Michael's mask looks a bit better this time, but it's still weird. The acting is good, David Pleasence delivers once again and so does the young Danielle Harris. The ending chase scene was really intense, even though most of the movie before it isn't really all that scary as were the first 3 movies.
All in all, a not so good sequel with an interesting premise, but it was executed badly. Would recommend only if you want to watch the other Halloween movies.
