Review of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) by Devin G — 16 Feb 2016
Halloween 5 picks up where the last film leaves off. Oh, but it doesn't make much sense at all. Let me count the ways.
Michael Myers falls into a river and winds up in the care of an old man who lives in the cabin out in the middle of nowhere. Think he might be blind. In any case, the film is clearly channeling one part of the story of Frankenstein. Frankenstein's monster was raised by a blind man in the woods at one point who took care of him. But what happens between Michael Myers and this man in the woods is inexplicable. The man apparently raises him for one year, and we just know that because of a title card. Then Myers just up and kills him after the year is up, for no reason.
Oh, and at the end of the film, Myers gets a rescue--from You Know Who. You know who? I don't. Even with the sequel it doesn't make much sense.
