Review of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) by Brendan O — 30 Aug 2010
Very solid and actually scary, even for a sequel. The story's a little flat and riddled with the stereotypical slasher cliches but this fourth installment does have an intense atmosphere and a lot of scenes that are quite innovative and frightening.
The uses of sound and score here is effective, besides using the original, iconic theme, Alan Howarth's score is truly worthy of Carpenter, just pulled me in right from the first frame and fitted perfectly with the end, just leaves you with a sense of dread.
Donald Pleasence, as usual is excellent and Danielle Harris is simply amazing, she kinda steals the show from even Loomis and Michael Myers. The stuntman who playing Michael Myers, George Wilbur is great and I can see why he was brought back for another sequel, he's might be the scariest Shape yet.
The director, Dwight Little really captured the feel of what me as a fan of this series wants and honestly a lot of care and respect for the fans went into this.
