Review of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) by Jacob F — 05 Aug 2013
Ten years after the original, "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" adds more motivation to Michael Myers, even though he's scarier without motivation. However, part 4 is one of my favorite sequels in the franchise because it's gory enough while the killer still manages to be intimidating, thanks to a great performance by George P.
Wilbur as The Shape. Donald Pleasence always kills it as Dr. Loomis. Also, the characters are likeable without being annoying. Both Jamie and Rachel are sympathetic, sweet heroines that we care about, thanks to the casting of Danielle Harris and Ellie Cornell.
Finally, "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" keeps the tension flowing and the atmosphere is terrific, maintaining a great sense of the actual Halloween holiday throughout the film. For a sequel, it's not bad at all.
