Overall I thought this movie was pretty dang good. There have been a few criticisms, some which are valid and some which are subjective. There are a few plot holes that never get filled, so that's a strike against this movie, but I think most movies have similar issues if examined closely enough. Some of the other problems people have, such as the humor, completely depends on your opinion. Personally I liked the humor for the most part - it made the movie feel more realistic. It's not the goriest Halloween, and I appreciate that, but I feel it's the sequel that shows the most respect to Micheal Myers. There's no unnecessary backstory for him, no weird supernatural stuff, just Micheal lumbering around and killing people for no reason, which is what Micheal does. The characters aren't all super fleshed out, but they are mostly likeable. The plot isn't great, but it's enough to get Micheal out and about again, which is really what you're watching this movie for in the first place anyways. Jamie Lee Curtis was great in my opinion as Laurie Strode. The best thing this movie could have done is exactly what it did, and that's ignore all of the other Halloween films except for the first one. It makes sense and isn't crazy and convoluted like some of the sequels.

My biggest issue with the movie is probably a common one, and that's with a certain plot twist about halfway through the movie that really comes out of nowhere and doesn't make a lot of sense. This movie would have been phenomenal if they had left that out entirely, but it's in there, and the movie overall is worse off for it in my opinion. Word on the street is that there's a Director's cut of this movie that will be released, and I can only hope that they pull that twist out.

The ending was underwhelming in my opinion, but not for lack of trying. They certainly wanted the movie to end with a bang, which it did, but not a kind of impactful bang. Overall I liked the movie - it's my favorite Halloween sequel by a long shot, mostly just because I don't have to think about all of the weird crap from the other ones. I think casual fans of the series such as myself will enjoy it, and I recommend buying a ticket to watch it in theaters. Watching Micheal Myers return to killing after 40 patient years is fun, even with the flaws.
