Review of Halloween (2018) by M C — 20 Oct 2018
As far as sequels go, it's better than Rob Zombie's Halloween 2, but worse than the 1981 Halloween 2. With a lot of moments that seemed badly placed, this film gives the Halloween franchise the The Force Awakens treatment, and I didn't appreciate it when they did it to Star Wars.
Taking all it's positives from the original, and failing with most of the new parts, the film seems like a jumbled mess that combines the original Halloween with Halloween 6, Halloween H20 and Home Alone, and fails to capture anything other than the disappointment that came from seeing Halloween 6.
Forgetting parts of the plot and going overboard on the "Final girl" trope, the film feels like exactly what it is: a horror fan trying to do the job of a horror professional.
