Review of Halloween (2018) by Simon R — 23 Oct 2018
On initially watching the trailer for this a while back my expectations for John Carpenters horror franchise were not high at all. The original Halloween is in just about every horror fans top 10 but since the movie made its debut in 1978 fans have had to make do with some very average sequels.
It has taken 40 years to to this point in the series but I have to say it was worth the wait. This movie has hit the ground running and doesn't seem like its going to stop. The story is excellent and the acting is second to none, especially from the originals Jamie Leigh Curtis but for me the icing on the cake is John Carpenters re imagining of Halloweens original musical score.
There is a scene in the movie where Michael appears in front of a large metal fence. He is then accompanied by a piece of music entitled "The shape hunts" At this point I looked around the packed cinema to witness nearly all my fellow movie goers almost in a state of trace as they were memorised by the haunting soundtrack an disturbing visuals.
Not one person made a sound util the scene had ended. If you are a fan of horror or not, I still urge you to see this movie as the thrill ride it creates can be enjoyed by every one. OUTSTANDING !!
