Slasher films were quite ubiquitous several years ago, but it wasn't until I watched 2018's Halloween that I realised how long it's been since I saw a good movie in the genre. This is a fantastically effective sequel.

Michael Myers is presented in exactly the right way, with the camera showcasing the killer's ruthless productivity like never before. There is a feminist slant on the tale this time around that both fits the story and seems right for the times.

And that soundtrack is just spine-tingling.
