Review of Halloween (2018) by Brock G — 22 Oct 2018
This was the best Halloween movie of the franchise despite its flaws. The original was slow and boring. It must've been a product of its time, and that's what people are blind sided by.
Anyways, I left the theater feeling I got every cent worth of my money. Jamie Lee Curtis carried the movie. You really felt for her character unlike any other slashers minus Scream. The homages to the previous films gave me Nostalgia galore.
Complaints: The supporting character's acting was mediocre. Especially the chunky kid the blonde babysitter was watching. He tried to make a joke when Myers attacked and it wasn't funny or cute. It took away from the moment. The male British reporter wasn't convincing either. He was suppose to lose his marbles when yelling at Michael and it just felt tamed. Didn't create the insanity that the filmmakers intended.
Story: They should have made this a sequel to Halloween 2. The original Halloween 2 felt like a continuation of the original. It makes no sense why Myers would go after Curtis if she wasn't his sister. If he was just attacking random people why go after her, because she's the one who got away. Meh...
Overall, I'll still buy it when it comes out on DVD.
