Review of Halloween (2018) by Kevin P — 17 Oct 2018
Everyone behind this "alternate" sequel just don't understand what makes the original Halloween great. It's as if they were watching an Alien marathon one night, couldn't think of a good story for the 2018 flick and decided to carbon copy Ripley's gun-toting kick-ass formula from Aliens.
By the third act I was expecting Michael Myers to hold the granddaughter hostage and JLC show up with a super shotgun saying, "Get away from her you b***h!" There are some cool nods to Carpenter and other Halloween installments, but overall this movie was stupid and just not scary.
Even more, after all the over-the-top insane preparations Laurie made for Michael's return over the last 40 years (really??? An underground bunker?), the ending will make die-hard Halloween fans hate this sequel even more than the Jamie Lloyd trilogy.
I can't believe Carpenter gave the green light for this goofy junk.
