Review of Halloween (2018) by Vj L — 17 Oct 2018
It's Halloween and Michael Myers is back after 40 years to kill.
This movie was fun. It captures the essence as a true sequel of the original 1978 Halloween. Michael Myers is brutal. It can get incredibly tense. The sound design feels in line with the '78 Halloween. There are some great moments where they pay homage to the original.
Unfortunately, it does try to take a few liberties that really took me out of the movie. There are scenes where they try to add comedy and it is completely out of place. There are characters that carry out the most absurd acts that feel like the movie needed a character to behave as such to get characters to the next scene. There are also some cheap jump scares.
The movie is fun. It feels like a decent sequel. But the movie as a whole tends to lose itself.
