Review of Halloween (2018) by Chad P — 18 Oct 2018
I'm only giving this a three star rating because overall as a movie it was good, but as a Halloween film, I'd put this at 5th or 6th best in the franchise, maybe even lower. I have been waiting for this movie for over a year now and I had all this hype because they were going back to the roots of the original and this was finally going to be a true Halloween sequel. i'm going to list some GOOD things and then I'm going to list a lot of BAD things.
GOOD: Jamie Lee Curtis.
Michael's mask.
BAD: The way they used Jamie Lee and how they didn't use her enough.
The characters in this movie, they made me want to kill them myself.
The comedy was overused.
The comedy ruined what should've been a dark horror moments of Michael Myers murdering someone.
The nods to the original didn't feel nostalgic to me, except in the final act of the movie which was well done, I will not spoil.
The "new Loomis" character was ruined by one scene and I'm not going to spoil that either.
More off screen deaths than on screen and even the on screen deaths only lasted a couple seconds, where in the original, Michael took time to kill.
There was no creep factor in this movie, like Michael was just not scary and forgive me for saying this was one of the least scariest Michael's.
There were a ton of jump scares, that I knew were going to happen.
Okay, now that is off my chest, I was really disappointed with this movie, I saw it with my friend and we've been waiting over a year, and when we left the theater, he said it was fantastic and then I started to talk to him about the flaws of the movie and he started to agree with me and he feels the same way as I do right now. I didn't mean to put a damper on him or anyone reading this, but if you're a true Halloween fan, you will walk out of this angry.
