You could wipe out at least 25% of this movie and it would be pretty good. I liked a lot of stuff, but first, the bad:

There were a lot of pointless characters and silly, goofy humor to scoff at that cheapened and snuffed out all chance of scariness. There was a scene running through the woods that led nowhere and could've been deleted and no one would miss it. Everything relating to the podcast wasn't necessary. A conversation about sandwiches was distracting, mindnumbing and should have been cut. Corny lines like "Gotcha" and "Happy Halloween" didn't need to be added. The plot twist with the doctor was cheesy and a desperate attempt to give unnecessary explanation. These things dumbed down the movie that, for the first maybe half, was mostly going in the right direction.

Also, there was little room for suspense. Michael Myers rushed to gory killings and did very little of the creepy stalking that made him such a nightmare creepy killer. His character was reduced to a cheap slasher in many instances. Also, he was shown without his mask way too much and it took away from The Shape.

So what did I like? The opening credits really made me want to watch the rest of the movie. Most of the music was really good until it seemed to get louder and more cheesy. Michael Myers did a pretty good job of moving like Michael Myers most of the time. The acting was surprisingly good all around. I was worried about Laurie Strode being too Rambo but it stayed tasteful. I liked it. Much like Sarah Conner.

To sum it up, the music and lights were toned down and the fat and fluff was edited out, along with the cheesiness and attempt at comedy, this would have made me pretty happy. More stalking and less gore would have made it scary and pretty awesome. Nice try.
